I think the design, not the animal would be better and take less time as shown here. Maybe use white for the wording, and each sign have a different color.

GORGEOUS! I love her! You were wanting ideas for emblems for the hat? How about zodiacs? Each layer would have a zodiac name and picture of that zodiac...maybe a layer for just the zodiac name and a layer for the zodiac pic....that way we could have one or the other or both....or none. Can't wait to see her!
